Expanding Horizons
An important part of Triform’s program is the growth that comes with new experiences. Triform Camphill Community, as part of a national and international movement, affords the possibility of short term visits for a couple of weeks or even a month in another Camphill Community in North America or abroad. Frequently these visits involve an exchange in which a resident at another Camphill community simultaneously comes to Triform, giving both communities an opportunity to provide enriching experiences for their exchange visitors while also adding a new dimension to the host community.
The adventure of national and international travel coupled with the opportunity to experience life in another Camphill environment creates wonderful memories. After his autumn visit to Bridge Community in Kilcullen Ireland, Cap observed: “Ireland gave me many gifts. I met new friends, worked in their weavery, garden and farm. I ate Irish food at their parties and suppers and enjoyed going to the Pub. I rode in many different planes. Each plane was fancy, very special and made me smile.”
After traveling almost equally far west, to visit Camphill California, Dave reported: “I had a great time. What I liked most about Camphill California was walking on the sandy beach, seeing my friend Sasha, and working out of doors in the Camphill garden. I left Triform on a cold March day, traveled on Amtrak across country, through the snowy mountain avalanches, and arrived in sunny California. My return train trip was another adventure, because I saw the southwest grassland fires in the distance.”
And with these memories come many possibilities for growth and self-awareness, as well. The opportunity to visit other Camphill communities can be a further enriching element in an already rich program.
