My name is Seonji and I am from South Korea.
I came to Triform in order to follow the Bible teaching to love your neighbor as yourself.
My time here has deepened my understanding of this teaching.
I came to this community to give of myself and my love.
Only to be taught by these amazing young people the true meaning of unconditional love.
When I first came here, I was awed at the ‘perfect harmony’ accomplished by so many
dedicated people in Bakery, Garden, Farm, Weavery, Estate and Home economics.
Triform Camphill is a wonderful community with selfless houseparents, passionate co-workers
from all over the world and lovely young people.
This is truly one of the best experiences of my life.

What I have to tell about Triform and my life there
My name is Jakob Brabetz and I have been a Co-Worker in Triform since August 2007. After I had finished my training becoming a chef, I left Germany, my friends and my family behind and went to America. It was a very big decision for me to make but I have never regretted it.
Here in Triform life is very different to my former life but I enjoy every single moment. I like to live with all the different people together, working at the farm and at the estate-group. Every day I’ve got to meet new challenges which helps me to grow more and more. I am glad to be able to give so much and to receive so much in return. Triform is a very good place for me because I can see that any person has a chance here to develop their personal skills. There is no competition, there is no prejudice. Everybody here has the freedom to cope with their life as good as possible. I think this makes Triform so special. Even if I am only 21 years old, I have already seen different workplaces where people with or without special needs did not have this chance to develop their skills because of prejudices and pressure from the boss and from society. Let’s take a look at me, when I came here first my English was really bad and people had trouble with me to communicate. I felt very unsecure. Then, the young people came to me and talked to me even I didn’t understand a word. But they didn’t give up, they knew I will grow in my language and become more confident in talking English. Look at me now, my English has grown a lot and will grow more. This and many other wonderful experiences I made because of the people here in Triform. There believe on you and I believe on them. When my sister Lisa, a former Co-Worker, told me about Triform and its special life and people there, I somehow couldn’t believe it. Now, after 10 months living here, I know what she meant and I am glad I made it here even if I had to leave so many things in Germany behind. I even extended my stay until August 2009.

In Triform, people live and work together with people with special needs. We clean, make meals, eat and live in the same house. Depending on the abilities and the interests of the volunteer coworkers, people work together at various workshops such as farm, biodynamic garden, weavery, or cook in the houses with people with special needs. In the afternoon, coworkers help in courseworks such as music, painting, or learn about Greek or Egyptian mythologies.
We find enjoyment in our lives with the people with special needs. During weekends, we go to see movies, visit museums, go hiking or may have barbeques. In the summer, we go and swim at the lake nearby. For Halloween, we have Halloween party with Halloween costumes. For Christmas, we perform plays and sing songs. For people’s birthdays, we bake cakes and have parties. Last summer, many people in the community went to an outdoor concert at Tanglewood. I had sandwiches and drinks on the lawn. I lay down on the grass and listen to Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9 while looking at the blue sky. The feeling I had was an unforgettable experience. Another thing I like to do is to turn off all the lights in the living room in winter night, and drink hot tea while looking at the fire of the wood stove in the house. We also have a cat in the house.
Young volunteers come from various places in Asia and Europe. Some people come right after high school. Some come while taking one year break from college. Some already have some working experience. In the evenings, young volunteer coworkers seem to get together, or go out somewhere. I do not know what people do in detail.
Although where we live is only two hours by car from New York City, we can only see nature like trees and our farm land from our windows. I do not hear any noise of automobiles or airplanes. I become woken up by the singing of birds. Where we live is a countryside. I can see fireflies flying in the summer. It takes twenty minutes by car to go to a nearby town. I hear it takes two hours if we walk! Work in Triform is hard, but I enjoy the life here, especially changing of seasons throughout the year.
