As a youth guidance community, Triform helps develop the social being of the emerging adult. The Triform experience encompasses community living, with the household at its center, education and vocational training. Located on beautiful farmland in New York’s rural Columbia County, with breathtaking views of the Catskills to the west and Berkshire foothills to the east, Triform’s 125 acres include pastures, rolling hills, a small river, woods and gardens. Community life in Triform includes seven residential houses, a farm with dairy, a large organic and biodynamic garden, a maintenance shop, a bakery, a crafts workshop, a community center with an auditorium and classrooms, a recreation center, and a weavery and therapy building.

Community Living
The hallmark of Triform life is the creation of an atmosphere which teaches and supports the individual in living and sharing with their fellow human beings. The family household created in each Triform house is central to the therapeutic environment of Triform and the center of the individual’s life. The rhythmic structure of the daily routine, and an atmosphere of respect and caring for others in each household help create a secure foundation from which each individual explores his or her potential. Life in the houses offers many opportunities to build and maintain social relationships with people of all ages. Sharing of meals, celebrating birthdays, and going on special outings help create bonds of friendship and responsibility. The household is also important as a place to develop practical, social and personal hygiene skills. All members of the household have regular chores, help plan and prepare meals, and keep their own rooms in order, with assistance or prompting as needed. Each household aims to establish a sense of collective responsibility for all aspects of home life.
